Carriers
LTL and regional carriers: records AI developers may want to license
LTL and regional carriers combine freight from many customers and move it through terminals and cross-docks. Their systems cover pickups, freight bills, weighing and inspection, cross-dock handling and claims. Freight classification changed on July 19, 2025, when a new density-based scale took effect, so records from before and after that date reflect different class rules. Some AI developers pay for company records that show how real work gets done, step by step.

Records an LTL carrier may hold
Usually yours to decide on
These can still contain other parties' details: see Held for others.
- Weighing and inspection recordsWhat each shipment was declared as, and what it measured.
- Reclass outcomesWhere a shipment's class was corrected, and the result.
- Over, short and damaged records and claimsExceptions and how each was resolved.
Held for others
These may need the other party's consent, or may have to come out before anything is shared.
- Customer pricing and shipment detailsFreight bills carry shipper pricing. In the US, motor carriers may not disclose shipment details without consent where it could harm the shipper or reveal its business to a competitor (49 U.S.C. 14908).
What an LTL carrier should check before saying yes
Customer contracts and pricing
Customer contracts and pricing agreements may limit what can be shared.
Who can decide
Make sure you own the business, or have the authority to decide what happens to its records.
How personal details come out
Ask the firm how driver details, consignee names and delivery addresses are removed before anything is shared. De-identification explained sets out what to ask.
The terms of any offer
Read what you would be agreeing to, and get your own legal advice before you sign. Once data is used to train a model, it can't practically be pulled back out.
How it works

Check if your data qualifies
One short form. If it looks like a fit, we introduce you to a firm that represents owners in these deals. No cost, and nothing is shared without your OK.
Check if my data qualifies →Questions owners ask
Does removing names deal with confidentiality?
Not on its own. Removing names deals with whether a record can be linked to a person, not whether its content is confidential. Freight bills still carry shipper pricing.
Do I need to sort out my records first?
No. Start by filling in our short form with your team size and years in business. Rough numbers are fine. If you are about to cancel or switch software, export your records first: see Before you cancel or switch logistics software.
Do I have to pay anything?
No. If you sign with the firm we introduce you to, it pays us a referral fee out of its own share, so it doesn't reduce what your company is paid. You never pay Insightlanes.com anything.
