Carriers
Cold chain logistics: records AI developers may want to license
Cold chain carriers move goods that have to stay within set temperatures. Reefer telematics can record setpoint, return and discharge air temperatures, door status and alarms, and US food carriers must have written procedures for cleaning and temperature control. If a shipper or receiver asks, a US food carrier must show it has maintained temperature conditions, for example with time and temperature data from the shipment (21 CFR 1.908). Cold storage warehouses are covered on the Warehousing and fulfillment page. Some AI developers pay for company records that show how real work gets done, step by step.

Held for others

- Shippers' product and lane detailsDetails of shippers' products, customers and lanes may be covered by their contracts. In the US, motor carriers may not disclose shipment details without consent where it could harm the shipper or reveal its business to a competitor (49 U.S.C. 14908).
What a cold chain business should check before saying yes

Customer contracts may limit how records about their goods are shared.
Telematics terms
Check your telematics provider's terms before exporting or including its data.
How personal details come out
Temperature logs can be linked to drivers and exact locations. Ask the firm how driver details, names and contact details are removed before anything is shared. De-identification explained sets out what to ask.
The terms of any offer
Read what you would be agreeing to, and get your own legal advice before you sign. Once data is used to train a model, it can't practically be pulled back out.

Check if my data qualifies →Questions owners ask
Are temperature logs personal data?
They can be, when they are linked to drivers and exact locations. Ask the firm how those details are removed.
Do I need to sort out my records first?
No. Start by filling in our short form with your team size and years in business. Rough numbers are fine. If you are about to cancel or switch software, export your records first: see Before you cancel or switch logistics software.
Do I have to pay anything?
No. If you sign with the firm we introduce you to, it pays us a referral fee out of its own share, so it doesn't reduce what your company is paid. You never pay Insightlanes.com anything.
