How to find and export your GoFreight data

Last checked:

Short answer

GoFreight's shipment lists, such as the Master B/L and House B/L lists in the ocean modules and the MAWB and HAWB lists in the air modules, export to Excel from the Excel icon at the top right of the list. Lists show one year of records by default, so widen the date range first. GoFreight's SaaS Agreement says you keep ownership of your data. It also lets REVO, the company the agreement is with, use your data "to conduct big data analysis and data mining", and says your data may be deleted once 30 days have passed after the agreement and Order Form are terminated.

You don't need to export anything to get started

To find out whether your records may be worth a closer look, your team size and years in business are enough. This guide is for seeing what GoFreight holds and keeping a copy, especially before you change systems or cancel. For how licensing works, read how to sell or license your logistics company's data to AI developers.

What GoFreight holds

GoFreight describes itself as "cloud-based freight forwarding software for ocean and air forwarders." Its help center covers ocean and air shipments, quotations, accounting, customs filings such as AMS and ISF, and documents uploaded to Doc Center.

How much you hold in GoFreight

The GoFreight help articles we read don't describe a screen that totals your records or shows your oldest one. By default, its lists "display records within a one-year date range." To see more, "adjust the date range in the Filter panel and click Apply Filters."

A practical way to size your history is to export each list with the widest date range and count the rows. If a file looks short, try a year at a time and add up the counts.

How to export GoFreight shipment lists

  1. Open a list, for example Ocean Import > Master B/L List. The same steps work for the House B/L List and My Shipment List, and in Ocean Export, Air Import and Air Export (in air, the MAWB List and HAWB List).
  2. Click Filter, enter criteria such as Carrier, POL, POD or Post Date, and click Apply Filters.
  3. Click the Excel icon at the top right of the list and click Download.
  4. To change the column order first, click Config instead, set the order and click Save & Download.

The Master B/L List "shows all shipments within a specific module, such as Ocean Import." My Shipment List shows only shipments created by you or assigned to you.

By default, the export is available to the General Manager, Accounting Manager, Accounting, Operation Assistant, Operation and Operation Manager roles. The help article doesn't state a row limit. GoFreight Support needs "an email approval from a user with an Admin or General Manager role" to change permissions.

Other lists and reports

  • Quotation List: click Excel, then Download, or Config and Save & Download.
  • Invoices and costs: Accounting > Invoice Cost > Invoice Cost List "displays all invoices", including invoices to customers and from vendors, and debit and credit notes for overseas agents. Export it from Excel at the top right.
  • Volume and Profit Report: under the Report menu. The output is a "Data Sheet or PDF", and "you can export this report as an Excel file from the upper right corner." Each run covers up to one year. The General Manager and Sales Manager roles have full access; other roles get "Volume Only".

The help articles we read describe downloading Doc Center files one at a time (Preview or Download), not in bulk.

Through the GoFreight API

GoFreight's API FAQ says "retrieving the entire detailed shipment data through a single API endpoint is not supported", so you call several endpoints, starting with the Master B/L. API access "can not be restricted by request type, feature, or module." The FAQ doesn't say how to get access, what it costs or what the rate limits are.

What GoFreight's terms say about your data

GoFreight's online Software As A Service Agreement (Version 3.0, no date shown) is with REVO Logistics Technology Corp. ("REVO"). It says:

  • Ownership: "You retain all ownership and intellectual property rights in and to your data." REVO and its licensors "shall not disclose, disseminate, offer or provide Your Data to any third party without your prior written approval", unless the agreement says otherwise.
  • Data analysis: "REVO or its licensors may use Your Data to conduct big data analysis and data mining, and you agree and authorize REVO or its licensors to do so." The clause doesn't mention aggregating or de-identifying the data first. A separate clause lets REVO publish statistics on the performance of its services, provided they do "not incorporate your data."
  • After termination: REVO "has no obligation to retain your data", and your data "may be irretrievably deleted after 30 days following the termination of the agreement and Order Form." We found no clause on exporting or returning your data.

The agreement says it prevails over your Order Form if the two conflict. Check your signed version first.

Before you share anything from GoFreight

GoFreight holds your customers' shipments, carriers, ports and invoices. In the US, 46 U.S.C. 41103 bars a common carrier, marine terminal operator or ocean freight forwarder from knowingly disclosing, offering, soliciting or receiving information about the nature, kind, quantity, destination, consignee or routing of property tendered or delivered to a common carrier without the shipper's or consignee's consent. The bar applies if the information may be used to the detriment or prejudice of the shipper, the consignee or any common carrier, or may improperly disclose its business transaction to a competitor.

GoFreight's agreement also says you may not make "the programs or materials resulting from the services available in any manner to any third party" for use in the third party's business operations, unless written consent is given in advance. It isn't clear whether that covers exports of your own data, so check your agreement or ask GoFreight in writing. See the freight forwarders and NVOCCs page for which records are usually the business's own and which are held for others.

Questions about GoFreight data

What happens to my GoFreight data if I cancel?

Under the online agreement, your data may be deleted once 30 days have passed after the agreement and Order Form are terminated, and we found no right to get it back. Export what you need before your contract ends.

Do I need to sort out my records first?

No. Start by filling in our short form with your team size and years in business. Rough numbers are fine. If you are about to cancel or switch software, export your records first: see Before you cancel or switch logistics software.
